Pop for Misfits

Designing a multipage article for a periodical requires an understanding of the visual relationship between text and art. For the article on the musical artist Grimes, strategically structuring body copy and illustrative images was the main problem to solve. Although Grimes categorically fits under popular music, she is known for defying most traditions of pop music. The push and pull of her raw emotions and persona are the primary focus of this layout design that creates a rebellious tone through a visually contrasting arrangement of the major elements.
